sports that i choose : the beautiful game of Football

david beckham taking one of his best free kick in Madrid's color
Football, soccer or anything you call it, it is still rated as the most popular sports in the whole wide world. Started on mid 19th century, football has gone through countless changes. From the ball used in the pitch to the material used in the jersey, from the number used by player to the rules of the game, from the stadium capacity to the broadcasting unit in a game. These changes made the beautiful games looks even better. Today post is to differentiate old football and the newer version of football.
Back then, the ball used in the pitch is just a rubber ball with a massive bouncy force. Later, the rubber ball was added with leather coating to improve its accuracy and to avoid wild bouncy ball. Nowadays, the ball had gone through series of improvement and taking Adidas Jabulani, the ball used in recent World Cup is the most high technology ball ever created. It increased the percentage of accuracy and the curl of the ball whenever the player hits it. The extra curl is because of the rough surface of the ball and increase the frictional when the ball colliding with players boot. Goalkeeper always complained about this ball because they always get tricked by the movement of the ball and make them work twice as hard.

The jerseys and numbering are also gone through some serious adjustment. For instant, old football, players wear number on their back only from 1 until 11, without any sponsorship logos, or the player name on the back. Today's football jersey, the player can choose whatever number the want with two sponsor logos on the front or the back of their jersey. One more thing, today's jersey is not a simple polyester-sweat absorbing jersey. For example, Nike come out with a cutting edge technology for football jersey. It was made 20% of recycled plastic bottle to make the jersey lighter and to reduce the wind resistance while the players are running. Secondly, its Dri-Fit technology preventing the sweat from drenching the whole kit. Thus, the player will enjoy 90 minutes of total football without heavy kit problem.

Critical Literacy in My Life. (why should it end between us)

Critical literacy, a very threatening word as rumors spread from weary mouth of the seniors saying, “You’ll going to die when you meet Mr. CL.” Rule of ten, giving opinion, VIVA and stuff are the deadly ingredients in order to create such subject as lethal as the great Critical Literacy. After 5 month in semester 4, I need to admit, Critical Literacy is indeed, DECOM most lethal weapon, as it will take student critical thinking to the whole new level. To those who had already went to the hell and back but still didn’t met with Mr. CL, trust me, you ain’t seen nothing yet.  (Thousand apologies sir, I’m just exaggerating)

Thousand respects to my respected CL lecturer, Sir Aliff Ibrahim  -he who make CL looks like child’s play-  he’s the only reason I still managed to cope with the heart-throbbing Critical Literacy. He who teached me how to give opinion without being too bias, stand for your view and how to understand articles by searching for their hidden message, I followed all the knowledge he gave me, except for the give opinion without being bias. (Refer to my VIVA *wink*) Sir, thank you so much for being such a great teacher and teaches me how to see article, issue or problem in a different view.  *Bow down then do the sieg heil thing*

Critical Literacy indeed leaves a mark inside of me. Now, I’ve learn to see issue, problem or even the world in every perspective.

Critical Literacy

The feared.

The great.

The one that will be missed.

" Im so proud of you, Josh"

This story is about a journey to a place that no man has stepped their foot into. A group of researcher camping in a yet to be discovered cave and trapped inside the ruthless terrain. Short after Frank McGuire (Richard Rosburg) research team, including his son, Josh McGuire (Rhys Wakefield), went deeper inside the cave, a brutal storm hit and cause the main entrance to the cave to collapse and left them no way out. Panic, claustrophobic, short of oxygen added the agony suffered by the team. Forced to find an alternate exit, Frank  took a risk and swam towards the 'said-to-be-an-exit', but even him and the other researcher don't know, whether it's heading towards the ocean, or just another pointy terrain.

Mother nature's looks can be so deceiving. At the first half an hour, viewers are amazed with the scenery of Esa-Ala cave and the bravery of the researcher. Its maybe something they did, Mother Nature abruptly gone mad and destroy everything in its path. This movie conveyed the importance of following leader's order as trying to be wise will destroy you. And of course, as a leader, one must be selfish and outspoken sometimes to make a decision. Also, this movie pictured how a passion can drive someone do everything he love even it will cause him his own life. Lastly, despite the action, suspense, thrill and lack of oxygen, this movie shows the love and the bond between father and son. The father just playing harsh as he wanted his son grow up as a perfect man like himself or even better. Don't judge your parent as they have something perfectly planned for you.

guilty things that pleasure me?
ahhh..so i need to reveal my dark side? well i guess i should. I will tell you the things that bring catastrophic event to others while give me all the pleasure in the world. the first guilty thing that pleasure me is..

MAKING PEOPLE FEELIN ANNOYED

it's all because i feed on human's hate! hahha.. the more hatred the more confident i get. hahaha i feel accomplished watchin the annoyed face of others. Sound devilish?naah, its just a medium of communication and its my way to mingle with others. (yeah i did it in a wrong way). If the victim is the one who doesnt know how to fight back, I'll make sure they will regret knowing somebody like me. Guilt? never heard of em..hahha

ROCKIN MY GUITAR EFFIN LOUDLY

Pump up the volume, kick on the distortion, strap in my stratocaster axe, get ready to be served with deafening sound. ohh did i mentioned? if you think the heavy metal song just so loud, go to hell! i dont care if you're my neighbour knocking my door 4 am in the morning just to ask me to turn down the volume, i dont care if you're a police try to arrest me because im causing sound pollution, and i dont care if you think im selfish. If you think my guitar sound "offended" you, just shut up, cuz it pleasures me.

LEFT WINGED LEADER

As a leader, your every move is under surveilence. i take the risk to tell everybody my last and biggest guilty thing that pleasure me. Left winged leader, in my case is, I wanted to fight for my own kind. It will offended the "higher" personnel but It really pleasures me when I fight for the student and against the you-know-what. spread the love like that plague you call affection!

Love, love, love....what Im going to say bout love? Trust me, Im not an expert in this hanky panky stuff but Im gonna try.

Seriously, what is love? Is it when you hold your girlfriend in the pouring rain and kiss her in the fore head? Is it when you punch somebody in the face just because he fought with your best friend? Or is it when you said "I love you mom" at the end of the conversation with Mak? Love is universal, love is subjective, you can define love in verious way, but one thing for sure, every day, love is in the air. According to my understanding as an average joe inside god vast creation, love is something unexplainable thing but you know it exist. It's a bond that ties the relationship between lovers, family, friendship and brotherhood. You dont have to search it. It will come to you without you realising it. One second youre feelin' down and lonely and the next second BOOYAH! you're in love.

Some say, you need to work hard for love, you need to fight for love, and you know what they say, no pain no gain. =)  But the phrase " Love is the voice under all silences" makes me ponder, Did love really need to hard work? After I reminisce, I had a view that, love do not acquire hard work actually. Under complete silence love can still be spread from two different heart that eager for affection. A simple lovely eye contact and facial expression can send the message without saying the three magic word. You know what they say lads, "Dari mata turun ke hati, dari hati datang nya cinta". Its from eye straight to the heart, from heart it where lies the love. I purposedly write it in Bahasa because I didnt feel the sweetness when it was wrote in English.. hehehhe.
While Im reminiscing on how love can be spread under silences, suddenly my mind took me back when i was 17. (talking bout mind slaving, i guess Mr Tolle got point) I saw a mother with her baby sitting in a bus. The baby's crying effin loudly and the mother keep on "dukung" and "tepuk-tepuk" her baby to calm him. Dont you see the love spread? I think everybody in the bus noticed that the love plague is spreading without the momma saying anything other than "alalalala bucuk mak dah nanges" Yes, the mommy said something and thats makes its not a silence situation but, did the baby understand? NO he didnt. So silence can still be apply here.

Alright, why are love so magic? what the mystic behind the conjointed letter if L.O.V.E? It took a lot of courage for me to say this, but love is the only thing that can melt the hard heart of a man. For example, metal music got one subgenre what we called LOVEMETAL, it's still metal, but with a touch of love in it. They even got heartagram. A heart-shaped pentagram to show how love is an essential element in life beside oxygen, food, shelter, metal music.

For the record, why love is so magically mystic? Even a great man (YDP MPP 2011) is in love even he is too busy for everything. =)

now let's headbanging with lots of love,

Punk-the rhythm of hard minds

What is punk music is all about?Punk music is divided into various sub-genres but I would like to pick hardcore punk as the main topic for this post. Hardcore punk is a blend of the mainstream-ly famous punk rock with a touch of hardcore music. The vocalist of this kind of music usually don't care about how they pronouns the lyrics, their focus are mainly on the meaning of the word. Hardcore punk song regularly bring a very straightforward message, and mainly the message brings hatred, rebellion and various ideology. For instance, punk band Anti Flag in their hit singles titled "Kill The Rich" is full of anti-capitalism and U.K punk band The Exploited's "Anarchy in the U.K" is full of...yes you get the idea.

Listening to this type of music would likely awaken the spirit to rebel and make you wanna bang your head even though you don't even understand what the singer is screaming about. Of course, with a rebellion rhythm like this, we will witnessed a drastic increase in youth problems as they would get easily influenced by the lyrics. Hardcore punk itself divided into two parts that is the Hardcore Punx and Nazi Punk which will led to fight for both sub-genres ideology is totally different. For instant, Dead Kennedys, a hardcore punx shows their hate towards Nazi punk in the song "Nazi Punk F**k Off". It will automatically trigger hatred between the followers of these two sub-genres and led to a bloody fight.

Other than that, hardcore punk are totally against free sex, drugs and alcohol. Hardcore punk followers usually practices an addition ideology called the Straight Edge. This anti-free sex-o-drugs-o-alcohol ideology was established in the late 80's by the hardcore punk band Minor Threat with no intention to publicized it. Their song titled "Straight Edge" is mainly about against free sex,anti-racism and anti-drugs. Inspired by their song, youth at that time practices whatever the band sings in their song. Also, this kind of music make us think a little bit more critical about what happened around us. For example, Anti-Flag's "F**k Police Brutality" condemned the police but some of it are right. This genres are simply good for critical literacy.

Even though I fell in love with hardcore punk, I am well aware that this kind of hard music is made up from both negative and positive effect. Let's rocking with some HARDCORE PUNK!

Even I am exposed to foreign melody, my Penang blood still running vigorously inside me, so the rhythm of Boria is still a part of me. 10 boys dress in the same outfit, singing with repetition, and singing in Penang accent..tell me,what is better than that?
